The Stone: Rose Quartz from the Quartz Family
Rose quartz is the pink variety of the mineral quartz, chemically silicon dioxide. Its pink comes from microscopically fine mineral fibers inside the stone, which scatter light and give it its typical soft, slightly milky shimmer. With a Mohs hardness of 7, it is durable enough for daily wear, yet it is still a natural stone that appreciates gentle care. For this necklace, the stone is cut and polished into a six-sided cylinder with points at both ends. The stone is genuine and has also been treated, which I'm stating openly here.
Material and Craftsmanship
For the metal, you can choose between 925 sterling silver and warm 14K gold-filled. 14K gold-filled is a real, thick layer of gold that is firmly bonded to a base metal. Unlike simple gold plating, which is applied only wafer-thin, wears off over time, and fades fairly quickly, 14K gold-filled keeps its warm gold tone for years. The cylinder is drilled crosswise and threaded directly onto a fine box chain whose square links interlock closely. That way, it rests calmly in the center and hardly turns as you wear it. You choose the length when you order: 45 cm (17.7 in) or 40 cm (15.7 in).

Rose quartz has been seen as a stone of love since antiquity. In ancient Rome, it was already carved into seals, and later into amulets and jewelry. By tradition, its soft pink stands for affection, gentleness, and warmth of heart, which is why it is still a popular gift for the people closest to you. In astrology, it is associated with the sign of Taurus, which makes it a personal gift for anyone born under Taurus.
Caring for Your Rose Quartz Necklace
The cylinder and chain are water-resistant and suitable for everyday wear. To make your necklace last as long as possible, avoid prolonged contact with salt water and chlorinated water, as well as perfume, lotions, and harsh cleaning products. After swimming in the ocean or a pool, it's best to rinse the necklace with clean water and dry it carefully.
Rose quartz should not be cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner or a steam bath, and it should be protected from high heat and sudden changes in temperature. Because the delicate pink can fade in long, direct sunlight, it's best to store the necklace in a dry, dark place, apart from harder pieces of jewelry. That way, the color and polish of your rose quartz necklace stay beautiful for a long time.

You choose either length right when you order. 40 cm (15.7 in) sits higher on the neck and highlights the collarbone. 45 cm (17.7 in) is the classic length and falls softly onto the neckline. With lower necklines 45 cm looks more balanced, while 40 cm suits high-necked tops better.
14K gold-filled is the higher-quality choice, and that's exactly why I only offer 14K gold-filled. Gold-plated jewelry has just a wafer-thin layer of gold on top, which wears off over time and fades faster. 14K gold-filled, on the other hand, has a much thicker, firmly bonded layer of gold. It costs a little more than plating, but it lasts so long that you won't have to keep buying new necklaces, and you can enjoy its warm gold tone for years.
