Aquamarine is the blue variety of the mineral beryl, a beryllium aluminum silicate that grows in the hexagonal crystal system. Its color does not come from dye but from iron in the crystal lattice. That is why its shade ranges from a delicate light blue to a rich sea blue. This growth also gives it the slim, columnar shape that this pendant is named after: a clear cylinder with a hexagonal cross-section and a faceted point. With a Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8, the stone is hard and well suited to everyday wear. Its glassy luster is typical and brings the stone to life even in low light.
You can choose between 925 sterling silver and warm 14K gold-filled. 14K gold-filled is a real, thick layer of gold that is firmly bonded to a base metal. Unlike simple gold plating, which is applied only wafer-thin, wears off over time, and fades fairly quickly, 14K gold-filled keeps its warm gold tone for years. The cylinder is drilled and sits directly on the chain, so it rests calmly in the center and its shape speaks for itself. The pendant hangs on a fine box chain whose square links interlock closely. You choose the length when you order: 45 cm (17.7 in) or 40 cm (15.7 in).
Its name comes from Latin and means seawater. In antiquity, Greeks and Romans took aquamarine on board as a talisman for a calm crossing. By tradition, the stone still stands for serenity, clarity, and courage. As the birthstone for March, it also makes a particularly personal gift.
The pendant and box chain are water-resistant and suitable for everyday wear. To make your necklace last as long as possible, though, avoid prolonged contact with salt water and chlorinated water, as well as perfume, lotions, and harsh cleaning products. After contact with seawater or pool water, it's best to rinse the necklace with clean water and dry it carefully.
Like almost all aquamarines on the market, this stone's color was enhanced with gentle heat treatment. The result is considered permanent and stays stable in everyday light and water. Even so, don't clean the stone in an ultrasonic cleaner, protect it from high heat and sudden changes in temperature, and store the necklace dry and apart from harder pieces of jewelry.

Aquamarine is the official birthstone of March. Its name comes from Latin and means sea water. Even in ancient times, sailors took the stone on board as a talisman for a quiet journey. Traditionally it stands for serenity, clarity and courage, which makes it a personal gift for those born in March.
The stone is a real aquamarine, i.e. natural blue beryl, and not an imitation made of glass or synthesis. As with almost all aquamarines on the market, its color was refined through a gentle heat treatment at around 400 to 450 degrees. The greenish component disappears and the pure blue remains. This treatment is common in the gemstone trade, permanent and stable. The stone is not colored or irradiated.
The box chain, or Venetian chain in German, is made up of square links that interlock tightly. This means it lies smoothly on the neck, hardly twists when worn and holds it in place Pendant reliably in the middle. Its straight, geometric line takes up the cylindrical shape of the aquamarine and allows the stone to work for itself.
14K gold filled is the higher quality choice, which is exactly why I only work with it. With gold-plated jewelry there is only a very thin layer of gold, which wears off over time and becomes pale more quickly. 14K gold-filled, on the other hand, has a significantly thicker, firmly bonded gold layer. This setting costs a little more than gold plating, but lasts for years and gives the cool blue of the aquamarine a warm frame.
Pendant and Box Chain are water-resistant. However, avoid long-term contact with perfume, creams and aggressive cleaners, avoid ultrasonic baths and avoid strong heat and sudden temperature changes. Keep the chain dry and individually, because despite a Mohs hardness of 7.5 to 8, the stone can be damaged by hard impacts.
