The Sun as a Charm on Your Wrist
A small metal sun, about 9 x 11 mm, hangs from this sun bracelet. Its face is shaped in relief: closed eyes, a delicate nose, and a calm smile, framed by a ring of pointed rays. The metal comes in two colors: silvery 925 sterling silver and golden 14K gold-filled. The sun sits on its own small spring ring. That way, you can take it off or hook it onto a different link, and later there is room for a second charm next to it. Because there is no stone, the whole bracelet can handle water and can stay on your wrist even when you wash your hands.
Material and Craftsmanship
The sun bracelet comes in 925 sterling silver and in 14K gold-filled. The term 14 karat describes the gold of the outer layer and corresponds to a fineness of 585, meaning 585 out of 1,000 parts are pure gold. This layer is thick and firmly bonded to the base metal, so the warm gold tone lasts even with daily wear, unlike wafer-thin gold plating. The chain is a cable chain. Its oval links interlock crosswise in alternating directions, so the bracelet drapes softly and moves easily around your wrist. It is 19 cm (7.5 in) long and closes with a spring ring clasp. I assemble the bracelet by hand in my studio in Oberhausen.
Meaning of the Sun
The sun rises anew every morning, which is why it has always been a sign of new beginnings and confidence. In ancient Egypt, people worshipped the sun god Ra, and in Greece, Helios. A sun bracelet keeps you company through the day like a little ray of sunshine.
Caring for Your Sun Bracelet
On your wrist, jewelry constantly comes into contact with water, soap, and lotion. Your sun bracelet is water-resistant, so you don't need to take it off for any of that. Soap and hand cream can leave a thin film that dulls the shine, though. Rinse the bracelet with clean water now and then and let it dry well.
Sterling silver reacts with sulfur in the air and darkens over time. A soft silver polishing cloth brings back its bright shine. If the gold has turned dull, a bath in lukewarm soapy water followed by a soft brush will help. To store the bracelet, lay it flat in a box so the links don't get tangled.

It's 19 cm (7.5 in) long, and a spring ring clasp holds it together on your wrist. Measure your wrist with a tape measure and add 1.5 to 2 cm (0.6 to 0.8 in) of room, and it will sit loosely and comfortably. It's just right for a wrist of about 17 cm (6.7 in).
