Cultured Freshwater pearl · Luxury Collection

Cultured pearls are organic gems. They don't form in rock but inside a living mussel. To grow a cultured freshwater pearl, a tiny piece of mantle tissue is placed inside the mussel, and over the years the mussel builds nacre around it: platelets of aragonite, a crystal form of calcium carbonate, bound together by the protein conchiolin. Because no round core dictates the shape, many cultured freshwater pearls grow oval. One of these oval pearls hangs from this pearl bracelet, and each one has its own shimmer. Nacre is relatively soft, with a Mohs hardness of only 2.5 to 4.5.
You choose the metal for your pearl bracelet yourself: 925 sterling silver or 14K gold-filled. With 14K gold-filled, a thick layer of real gold is permanently bonded to the base metal, so the warm gold tone lasts even if you wear the bracelet every day. Simple gold plating, by contrast, is only wafer-thin. The bracelet is made of a cable chain whose oval links each sit crosswise to the next. That's why it drapes softly around your wrist. It is 19 cm (7.5 in) long and closes with a spring ring clasp. The pearl sits on a headpin with a loop that I wrap by hand, and it hangs from its own small spring ring.
People wore pearls as jewelry thousands of years ago. In many cultures, they were a symbol of purity and wisdom, and in ancient times they were even called children of the dew. The pearl is a birthstone for June, so a pearl bracelet is a gift with meaning, for yourself or for someone close to you.
The bracelet itself is water-resistant. Only the pearl is delicate. Soap, chlorine, salt water, and hand sanitizer attack nacre, and on your wrist the pearl comes into contact with them especially often. So take the bracelet off before you wash your hands with soap, before you shower, and before you work out.
Remove any soap or hand cream residue with a soft, damp cloth and let the pearl air-dry. Ultrasonic cleaners and steam have no place near nacre, and neither does high heat. The bracelet is best kept dry and away from harder jewelry. Then the pearl stays smooth and its luster stays alive.
Pearls do not grow in rock but inside a living mussel. They are made of aragonite and conchiolin.
Without a round nucleus, many cultured freshwater pearls grow oval, each in its own shape.
Nacre is mostly calcium carbonate, so even mild acids like lemon juice or vinegar attack the pearl.
People wore pearls as jewelry thousands of years ago. By tradition they stand for purity and wisdom, and as the birthstone for June, a pearl bracelet becomes a gift with meaning.

The bracelet is 19 cm (7.5 in) long and closes with a small spring ring clasp. For a comfortable, slightly loose fit, add about 1.5 to 2 cm (0.6 to 0.8 in) to your wrist measurement. So 19 cm fits a wrist of about 17 cm (6.7 in) well.
Yes. The cultured freshwater pearl has its own small spring ring clasp, which makes that possible. You can take it off, move it to another spot or add more charms to your bracelet. That way it grows with you, one piece at a time.
A cable chain looks like a tiny version of a ship's anchor chain, because each oval link sits crosswise to the next one. That makes it flexible and sturdy at the same time, and it drapes softly around your wrist.
Yes, it's a real cultured freshwater pearl made of nacre grown by a mussel, not a faux pearl made of glass or plastic. You can tell by its slightly irregular oval shape and by its shimmer, which changes with the light. Every pearl grows differently and has its own shape.
The bracelet itself is, because 925 sterling silver and 14K gold-filled are water-resistant. The cultured freshwater pearl is more delicate, since soap, chlorine, salt water and disinfectants damage its nacre. So take the bracelet off before washing your hands, showering or working out, and pat the pearl dry with a soft cloth afterward.
