This dinosaur necklace carries a small long-necked dinosaur of 12 x 15 mm with a spiky back. It is made of synthetic opal, meaning a stone made artificially and not a natural opal that has grown in the earth. Its body shimmers with many tiny dots of color that look like stardust in the light. The dinosaur comes in white and in lilac. The chain passes through a fine hole drilled in its head, so it hangs upright and looks to the side. It is the most playful pendant in the line and adds a cheerful touch to simple outfits.

Material and Craftsmanship

You can choose between 925 sterling silver and 14K gold-filled. 14K gold-filled means that a thick layer of real gold is firmly bonded to a base metal, and it holds up to everyday life far better than thin gold plating. Sterling silver stands for a silver content of 92.5 percent. The dinosaur glides on a box chain made of tiny box-shaped links that drapes smoothly. In my studio in Oberhausen, I thread each dinosaur necklace by hand and take a close look at every spike. You decide the length: 45 cm (17.7 in) or 40 cm (15.7 in). Dinosaurs ruled the earth until they died out about 66 million years ago. Long-necked dinosaurs such as Brachiosaurus were among the largest land animals of all time. Caring for Your Dinosaur Necklace

The necklace can stay on in the shower, because water is no problem. But make sure perfume, body lotion, chlorine, and salt water don't constantly get on the dinosaur, or its surface may become duller. Take the necklace off to swim and put it back on afterward. After showering, pat it dry with a soft cloth.

Synthetic opal is less hard than quartz and can chip at the spikes if it takes a strong knock. So keep the necklace on its own in its box. Remove skin oils and dust with a dry microfiber cloth. A soft cloth makes silver bright again, and your dinosaur will shine like it did on the first day.
