The Little Synthetic Opal Ghost
The pendant on this ghost necklace is a little ghost of 10 x 12.5 mm with two cut-out eyes and a wavy hem. It is made of synthetic opal, a manufactured stone, not natural opal. In white, it looks like a ghost made of moonlight, full of colorful sparks. In lilac, it looks more playful and a little mysterious. The chain threads through a fine hole drilled in its head, so the ghost floats freely in front of your neck and turns slightly when you move.
Material and Craftsmanship
Choose between 925 sterling silver and 14K gold-filled. With 14K gold-filled, a thick layer of gold is bonded so firmly to the core that it lasts for many years, while thin gold plating wears off over time. Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5 percent fine silver and other metals, usually copper. The ghost is worn on a box chain with small square links. I thread each ghost necklace by hand in Oberhausen and check the play of color in daylight. You choose the length: 45 cm (17.7 in) or 40 cm (15.7 in). Silver goes well with the cool white, while gold makes the ghost look a little warmer.
Meaning of the Ghost
Halloween has its roots in Samhain, the Celtic festival at the end of the harvest season. According to old belief, the boundary to the world of spirits was especially thin on that night. Today, the ghost is mostly a friendly wink: a Halloween necklace you can wear all year round.
Caring for Your Ghost Necklace
The necklace handles showers and rain without any trouble. But keep perfume, hairspray, and lotions away from the ghost, and take the necklace off before a swim in the pool or the ocean. Otherwise, chlorine and salt can gradually make its smooth surface dull. After a rain shower, pat the necklace dry with a soft cloth.
Synthetic opal is softer than quartz. A hard knock can chip the edges, so the necklace belongs in its box when you sleep or work out. Care for silver with a soft polishing cloth, and wipe gold with a damp, soft cloth. That way, your ghost will keep haunting for a long time.

No, the ghost is so friendly that it works all year round. In October, of course, it becomes a favorite, partly because opal is considered the birthstone for that month.
The ghost is made of synthetic opal, so it did not grow in nature. I say this openly because you should know what you're wearing around your neck.
It measures 10 x 12.5 mm (0.39 x 0.49 in). You can make out the cut-out eyes even from a little distance, yet the pendant stays dainty.
White is the classic ghost with colorful sparks. Lilac is the playful version in lavender. With gold, white looks warm, and silver shows off lilac best.
