Rose quartz is the soft pink variety of the mineral quartz, made of silicon dioxide with the formula SiO2. Its pink doesn't come from a coloring element in the crystal lattice but from microscopically fine, fibrous mineral inclusions related to dumortierite, which scatter the light inside the stone. That's why it never looks glass clear but softly translucent, with its typical milky shimmer. With a Mohs hardness of 7, it is one of the more durable gemstones and suited to everyday wear. This rose quartz is a genuine natural stone, cut into a teardrop, polished, and also treated. I disclose this openly because it's part of an honest piece of jewelry.
You can choose between 925 sterling silver and a warm 14K gold-filled chain. 14K gold-filled is a real, thick layer of gold that is firmly bonded to a base metal. Unlike simple gold plating, which is applied only wafer-thin, wears off over time, and fades fairly quickly, 14K gold-filled keeps its warm gold tone for years. The rose quartz teardrop is drilled at the top and slides freely on the chain, so it falls to the center on its own and rests calmly at your neck. I select each stone individually for its color and polish and thread it by hand. You choose the length when you order: 45 cm (17.7 in) or 40 cm (15.7 in).
Rose quartz is one of the oldest gemstones and was made into beads and amulets as early as antiquity. By tradition, it is considered the stone of love. For centuries, its soft pink has been associated with warmth of heart, gentleness, and connection. Many modern birthstone lists also include it as an alternative stone for January, although the official January birthstone is garnet. Worn as a teardrop on a fine chain, it makes a personal gift.
The pendant and chain are water-resistant and made for everyday wear. To make your necklace last as long as possible, you should avoid prolonged contact with salt water and chlorinated water, as well as perfume, lotions, and harsh cleaning products. After swimming in the ocean or a pool, it's best to rinse your necklace with clean water and dry it carefully.
The stone is sensitive to long periods of direct sunlight and can turn a little paler. So store your necklace in a dark, dry place and don't leave it in a sunny window for long. Also skip ultrasonic and steam cleaning, and keep the teardrop apart from harder pieces of jewelry so its polished surface doesn't get scratched.

Rose quartz is one of the oldest gemstones used in jewelry and was already made into beads and amulets in ancient times. By tradition its soft pink is said to stand for warmth of heart, gentleness and connection, which is why it is still called the stone of love today. Many modern birthstone lists also include it as an alternative stone for January. The official January birthstone, however, is garnet.
The stone is genuine rose quartz, not an imitation and not glass. It has been cut into a teardrop shape, polished and also treated. Treatments such as dyeing, waxing or oiling are common for rose quartz on the market, and under CIBJO rules they must be disclosed openly. That's exactly what I'm doing here instead of leaving it unmentioned.
You choose the length as an option when you order. 40 cm (15.7 in) sits higher on the neck and highlights the collarbone. 45 cm (17.7 in) is the classic length and falls softly onto the neckline. If you're not sure, it's best to measure a necklace you already like to wear.
14K gold-filled is the higher-quality choice, and that's exactly why I only offer 14K gold-filled. Gold-plated jewelry has just a wafer-thin layer of gold on top, which wears off over time and fades faster. 14K gold-filled, on the other hand, has a much thicker, firmly bonded layer of gold. It costs a little more than plating, but it lasts so long that you won't have to keep buying new necklaces, and you can enjoy its warm gold tone for years.
The pendant and chain are water-resistant. Still, avoid prolonged contact with perfume, lotions and harsh cleaners, don't use ultrasonic or steam cleaning, and store the necklace in a dark, dry place. Rose quartz can turn paler in long, direct sunlight, so it's best not to leave the necklace on a sunny windowsill.

Origin of the stones
Every stone has a journey and I want that journey to be fair and transparent.
Origin · Rose Quartz
The rose quartz in this necklace typically comes from the pegmatite deposits of Minas Gerais in Brazil, before each drop is hand-strung in my studio.
