The Stone: Pink Tourmaline as a Raw Crystal

This pink tourmaline necklace carries a genuine tourmaline in its natural crystal form. Its fresh pink comes from traces of manganese, and along the sides you can see the fine lengthwise grooves that are typical of tourmaline. Strong pink to red tourmalines are also called rubellite in the trade. With a Mohs hardness of 7 to 7.5, the stone is hard enough for everyday wear. I haven't cut it, so it keeps the shape it grew in.

Material and Craftsmanship

I wrap every crystal by hand, one at a time, using 14K gold-filled wire. A twisted frame holds the stone securely, and a curved line runs across it. 14K gold-filled is a thick, firmly bonded layer of gold that keeps its warm tone for years, unlike wafer-thin gold plating. You can add a fine Venetian chain in 14K gold-filled in 45 cm (17.7 in) or 40 cm (15.7 in), or take the pendant on its own.

No two tourmalines are alike, and no wrap turns out the same twice. That's why this tourmaline necklace exists exactly once. Once it's sold, it's gone. Caring for Your Tourmaline Necklace

The pendant and chain are water-resistant. To keep the shine for a long time, take the necklace off before swimming in salt water or chlorinated water, and keep perfume, lotions and harsh cleaners away from it. Ultrasonic cleaners and high heat are not good for tourmaline. Store the necklace dry and apart from your other jewelry so the crystal doesn't take any hard knocks.
