The two layers are permanently bonded with pressure and heat, so the warm gold tone lasts much longer than with thin gold plating. 925 sterling silver is 92.5 percent pure silver, and the rest makes the metal stronger. It has a cool, bright shine and can darken a little over time, but a soft polishing cloth makes it shine again.
